With over 750 miles of
coastline, and nearly seven-million tourists visiting it's beaches and
oceans each year, Hawaii and it's people depend on the continued health
and protection of their marine environment.
Our world is a special place where millions of species coexist.
Each species is an integral part of our planets fabric. Hawaii
possesses more endangered species per square mile than any other place
in the world. What we do will determine
their fate, and ultimately our own.
This is our home, and the home of our children and grand-children.
We can undo the damage we have caused and preserve our precious
resources for generations to come.

What We Do
HAMER offers the scientific
expertise to conduct field research on Hawaii's marine wildlife.
This research and understanding is the primary means for the proper
management and protection of these species.
HAMER also offers training and education lectures about marine mammals, field
research techniques, conservation, and current research findings.
Education is the secondary means by which we can properly manage our
marine environment by changing public awareness, attitudes, and
ultimately behavior.
